Description:
The recent crisis in global financial markets has lead to a flurry of rule making activity at both the national and international level. Lost in the shuffle, and an important element in the stability of the Canadian financial system, is the important role played by supervisory oversight practices. In her remarks, Canada's Superintendent of Financial Institutions, Julie Dickson, will talk about how a focus on rules, with little discussion of the importance of quality of supervisory oversight, may be a mistake.
