MEDIA ADVISORY: T. BOONE PICKENS TO PROPOSE NEW CORPORATE GOVERNANCE REFORM IN INTERVIEW ABOUT SHAREHOLDER ACTIVISM AT THE CARDOZO SCHOOL OF LAW
New York, NY – On April 11, T. Boone Pickens will speak about why shareholder activism enhances the value and health of public companies at a program entitled “Shareholder Activism and the Thriving Public Company: A Response to Critics.” Mr. Pickens will be interviewed by Emmy award-winning journalist Charlie Rose and answer questions from the audience.
The interview will be held at The Samuel and Ronnie Heyman Center on Corporate Governance at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law/Yeshiva University and will be open to the press.
Who: T. Boone Pickens, founder and chairman of BP Capital Management, and Charlie Rose, award-winning journalist of the Public Broadcasting Company.
When: Wednesday, April 11, 2007 from 7:30p.m. to 9:00p.m. ET
Purpose: T. Boone Pickens will address recent criticisms that shareholder activists are a threat to public companies. Drawing on his legendary experience challenging public company boards, Mr. Pickens will respond to these critics and make the case for vigorous shareholder activism.
For the first time in a public forum, Mr. Pickens also will set forth a unique proposal to make company directors more accountable to shareholders.
